Anatomy of a model shoot

Work it baby

My latest model shoot took place in an unlikely location, that being a cemetery. I had the good fortune of using my brother-in-law Ed’s car and bike for the shoot, and luckly, he’s also an aspiring photographer. He just got a new 10-20mm wide angle for his Canon and I asked him to snap some candid shots while we did the photoshoot.

I thought I’d share some of them here along with some explanations.

More photos and details after the jump!

Coyote ugly

Like any good photographer, I scouted the location of the shoot ahead of time. I got there an hour or so early and wanted to make sure we had a good spot to shoot, when I stumbled upon a coyote, right in the graveyard! This is right in the middle of heavy urban Vancouver too. What the heck?

You look marvelous

Bike and Car set up with Grouse and Cypress mountains in the background. Prrrrty eh? This is me showing the model Athena some of the pics as we went along.

Outta the carShowing pictures

We shot a few with Athena in the driver’s seat, and once again, pausing to show her the results.

How low can you go

I get down low for the shot, since Athena is crouched here. Dramatic sky in the background! Hey..someone cut my hair a bit too short on top. :P

Always posing

Makeup artist extraordinare, Linda Bowman checks out the pictures while Athena continues to pose as Ed snaps off a couple.

Just say no to crack

Look at the sky! It’s so dramatic. Great model, perfect weather, great scene, and … well kids, just say no to crack! (Edited to be family friendly!)
