Model Shoot – Forest Nymph

Can you see me?On Friday I did what was probably my most creative shoot with a model so far. After meeting with the incredibly beautiful Natalie Standke (who just happens to be the reigning Miss BC World pageant queen) for coffee one day, she described an idea that was originally a “water creature” kind of shoot that she wanted to do. She even had a location in mind.

I had just worked with a great makeup artist, Linda Bowman, and recommended her to Natalie for the creative shoot. Linda put together a very cool mock-up of what the makeup might look like. What evolved from a water creature, to a water nymph, to a forest nymph, was nothing short of wonderful collaboration. I think I had the easy part, just taking the pictures!

Forest NymphThe weather was crappy on and off all day, but after two hours of painstaking makeup, the sky opened up and the sun shone down upon our little location, a pond and tree hidden near a kids playground in Langley, BC. What a cool location just tucked away between a neighbourhood of houses.

Natalie looked stunning wrapped in a shimmering forest green fabric, and the makeup looked wonderful as the sunbeams peeked through from time-to-time during our shoot.

Lazy daysAll in all I think it turned out wonderful, and made me realize that I really don’t want to do another plain-jane shoot again! Thanks, Natalie and Linda for a wonderful collaboration!

Absolutely beautiful model. Also, interesting concept and great execution. Love the first and third shots. For some reason I tend to like photos of people looking away from the camera more. The setting and placement on the first one are great though.
