On Sunday I attended a location lighting workshop, put on by the good folks at Vancouver Photo Workshops. The all-day session was fantastic and a real eye-opener for me. I’ve been shooting a LOT outdoors with my model shoots, but I never realized how I could compliment, or even completely control the outdoor environment by adding something as simple as a flash, or a complete lighting setup.
Instructor Mark Koegel was engaging and very helpful on a one-to-one basis. The two models that we were able to shoot, applying what we learned, were awesome (one is actually a photographer and instructor as well). They both had so much patience allowing all eight of us to shoot in a variety of manners.
I came out of this course with a laundry list of lighting gear that I now want to add to my collection. Expensive hobby!
