A real treat during our November 10 shoot was the arrival of Leah Gibson. Leah’s a dancer, singer and aspiring model. With an amazing likeness to Betty Boop, Leah brought a great deal of confidence, along with a few very cool authentic vintage dresses to the shoot.
Her natural abilities as a dancer were extremely helpful in some of the poses she performed. At one point I called her a posing machine because she always had something new or cool to try as far as poses go. It was great for me, as a photographer I just had to ask her
to hold some when I wanted to try a few different shots of a pose. Otherwise she just moved and flowed into something new after each shot.
I managed to get enough time to shoot a couple of different looks. The first one by the dilapidated wall was done with two fluorescent strip lights and the other was in the main studio with two strobes (key in a softbox and fill reflecting into an umbrella) and a rear-left snooted flash for hair/accent light.
The whole set with Leah can be found on here on my flickr site. Makeup by Sherilyn Weins.
